UK registered company number 13394532 and VAT number 382 6098 71.
2) How our contract with you works
- When you place an order, we’ll email to confirm we’ve received it. This is not acceptance.
- A binding contract forms when we dispatch your order (we’ll email you again at that point).
- If we can’t accept your order (e.g., payment not authorised, stock unavailable, pricing or description error, delivery restrictions), we’ll cancel and refund any payment.
3) Products & availability
- Product photos and descriptions are provided in good faith. Minor colour/finish variations may occur.
- All products are subject to availability. If an item becomes unavailable after you order, we’ll contact you with options or a refund.
4) Prices, taxes & payment
- Prices are shown in GBP and include VAT where applicable (note: most printed books are zero-rated for VAT in the UK).
- We accept major debit/credit cards (and, where available, Apple Pay/Google Pay).
- We take payment at checkout. If a pricing error is obvious and unmistakable, we may cancel and refund before dispatch.
5) Delivery
- We currently deliver within the UK only.
- Orders are fulfilled by our distribution partner from a UK warehouse.
- Delivery options, timeframes and charges are detailed on our Shipping & Delivery page.
- Delivery timings are estimates from dispatch. We’re not liable for delays outside our reasonable control (see “Events beyond our control”).
6) Risk & title
- Items become your responsibility once delivered to the address you provided.
- Ownership passes to you once we receive full payment.
7) Your right to cancel (change of mind)
- For online purchases, UK consumers have a 14-day cooling-off period starting the day after delivery to cancel for any reason.
- You then have a further 14 days to return the items.
- For change-of-mind returns, you are responsible for return postage (we recommend a tracked service).
- We’ll refund the item price and the basic outbound delivery cost once we receive the goods back (or you provide proof of posting), within the legal timeframe.
- See our Returns & Refunds page for how to start a return.
8) Faulty or damaged items
- Please email shop@materialmatters.design within 7 days of delivery with your order number and (if possible) photos.
- We’ll arrange a replacement or full refund and cover reasonable return postage for faulty items.
- Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply, including a 30-day short-term right to reject faulty goods for a full refund.
9) Returns process & address
- Start your return by emailing shop@materialmatters.design. We’ll confirm next steps.
- Pack items securely and include your order number inside the parcel.

11) Exclusions & condition of returns
- Unless faulty, we can’t accept returns of personalised items or sealed items once opened (rare for books).
- Returned items must be in resaleable condition (unused and undamaged).
12) Order changes & cancellations before dispatch
- If you need to change or cancel your order, email shop@materialmatters.design as soon as possible. If we haven’t dispatched, we’ll do our best to help.
13) Promotions & discount codes

- Discounts apply to qualifying products only and exclude delivery charges unless stated.

16) Events beyond our control
- We’re not responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., strikes, extreme weather, carrier issues, supply problems).
- If an event affects your order, we’ll let you know and do what we reasonably can to minimise the impact.
17) Liability
- Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
- We’re not liable for: loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill; indirect or consequential loss; or losses not caused by our breach.
- Our total liability for any loss arising from a single order will not exceed the total amount paid for that order.
18) Privacy & cookies

21) Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one shown at checkout when you placed the order (and confirmed in your dispatch email).
22) Transfer of rights
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation. This won’t affect your rights. You may only transfer your rights with our written consent.
23) Third-party rights
- No one other than you and us has any rights under these Terms (Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 does not apply).
24) Severance & no waiver
- If any part of these Terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
- If we delay enforcing these Terms, we can still enforce them later.
25) Governing law & jurisdiction
- These Terms and any disputes are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
